Beta club is designed to recognize students for exceptional academic achievement.  Students are required to continue with overall high academic standards to maintain membership.  As students progress into high school, Beta Club Membership leads toward leadership positions and even scholarships.  I hope that this is an excellent place for you to fit in.

*** The October Beta Club meeting will be on 10/23 instead of 10/16.  All students interested in joining need to have their dues at this meeting.  We will meet on Tuesday, 10/23 until 5:00 in Mrs. Marks room. ***

Basic Requirements for Membership:

Students must successfully maintain an overall average of 90 in their core classes, as well as in Connection  classes. A student can have a B average in 3 or fewer classes, as long as the combined average remains a 90 or higher.

Students who are in 6th grade must have a 90 average on the nine week report card to be considered eligible to join.

Students in 7th or 8th grade may bring their 2017-2018 year end report to join or stay active.

Students joining Edwards Middle School Beta Club for the first time will pay a one time fee of $15 for the national certificate, as well as the $10 yearly dues for being in Beta Club.  First time members at EMS will pay a total of $25 to join.

Students returning to EMS Beta Club will pay the yearly $10 dues to remain active.

Current calendar of potential events as well as monthly meetings:

Monthly meetings will be held the third Tuesday of the month, unless there is a break scheduled during that week.

Meetings will be from 4:15 to 5:10 in Mrs. Marks classroom. Students are expected to have a ride here at 5:10.  There is no option for late pickups.

The Junior Convention is scheduled for November 28 – 30.  The convention involves spending two nights away, so if we are able to attend, we will need chaperones, and it will have a significant cost involved.  We will address this more at the September 18th meeting.
